Mrs Camilla Gee

Biography

Camilla is a Senior Lecturer in Law on the Penryn Campus teaching Legal Foundations and Employment Law. She is the module convenor for LAW1024C Legal Foundations 2 and LAW2174C Employment Law. 

Camilla is Subject Lead for Law, Deputy Head of Department (Hass Cornwall) and Year 2 Coordinator. Previous roles have included Employability and Placements.

Previously Camilla enjoyed combining the practice of Law with her teaching roles. She taught on the post graduate LPC at the University of Plymouth before joining the University of Exeter as a visiting lecturer in 2015. In 2019 Camilla was invited to help design and deliver modules on the new Law & Business programmes at Penryn and she joined the Law School Cornwall as a permanent member of staff in September 2021. Camilla has a particular interest in experiential learning and authentic assessment. 

In practice Camilla specialised in employment law, professional regulation and work related injury. A number of Camilla’s cases reached the appeal courts including Prater v Cornwall County Council [2006] EWCA Civ 102, [2006] 2 All ER 1013 and Barber v Somerset County Council [2004] UKHL 13, [2004] 2 All ER 385 which remains the leading case on stress at work. Camilla and her colleagues also won the Lawyer Award for Employment Team of the Year following the success of Barber.
