I am an historian of modern Britain with a special focus on museums and public history. I am interested in how people relate to museums, and utilise their institutional resources to assist in building an understanding of the world around them. I work mainly in the areas of gender history, modern socio-cultural studies in memory and representation, and community engagement work.

My current project is working in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage, Government of New Brunswick (Canada) examining the impact of changes to collections management policy and ethics in a global (current and post-pandemic) context.

I am also working with colleagues at King’s College London to develop research relating to families and trans-national migration studies with an element exploring personal litigation and current legislation.
