Dr Aneta Brockhill

Aneta is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Cornwall. Before joining the University, she was an Associate Lecturer in the School of Law, Criminology and Government at the University of Plymouth, where she completed her doctorate. Her PhD was funded by the Centre for Research in Sustainable Leadership, Governance and Policy.
Aneta is Director of Education and Student Experience at HASS Cornwall. She has previously held a number of leadership roles within the department, including Deputy Head of Department and Director of Admissions.
Aneta has extensive experience teaching and supporting students across a range of undergraduate programmes. Her teaching covers the Politics of the Middle East, Decolonial and Anti-Colonial Politics, International Relations Theory, Security Studies, and Peace and Conflict Studies. She currently teaches modules on Global Palestine, Politics in the Middle East, and Key Concepts in Politics and International Relations. Built on the principles of decolonising education and critical pedagogies of affective solidarity, Aneta’s teaching employs a plethora of decolonizing modes and strategies to create a classroom that is a site of decolonial learning, action-oriented engagement and transnational solidarity.
Her work has also focused on developing innovative teaching and learning approaches that enhance student engagement and foster an inclusive learning environment. This commitment to educational excellence has been recognised through multiple student-led teaching awards and Dean's Commendations.
Research supervision:
I am happy to supervise research students working on the question of Palestine, Israel’s occupation of Palestine, settler colonialism, violence and human security and decolonial approaches in IR.
