About us

HaSS Cornwall is the home of unique and engaging interdisciplinary degree programmes that combine cutting‑edge research with core subject expertise and teaching excellence.
Our work brings together History, Humanities, Law and Politics, supported by collaborations across the University and strong partnerships with businesses, policymakers and communities in Cornwall and beyond.
Our teaching and research are internationally focused and globally reaching, yet firmly rooted in the place‑based perspectives that our Cornish location provides. Cornwall's rich natural resources and emerging cutting-edge industries offer a living context for research into the large-scale global transitions underway in our time.
Our research explores everything from how societies remember and forget their pasts to how people participate in democratic institutions; from how businesses respond to legal and environmental challenges, to how human-nature relationships are being reshaped by climate change.
Informed by this research, our students engage directly with external organisations, legal and political processes and real‑world policy challenges. As passionate and engaged educators, researchers and scholars, we support active, inquiry‑led learning and are proud of the diverse, supportive community we are building with our staff, students and partners.
